Who will be looking after my child?
What does my child need to wear?
Monika, the Forest School Leader, has Btec Level 3 (Forest School Leader), and is a qualified nursery teacher.
She also has an Outdoor First Aid certificate.
Everyone who works at Little Sparrows Forest School has a current CRB check.
Due to nature of Forest School we have a higher staff/child ratio than in a nursery setting. This helps to ensure the safety of your child.
Where are the sessions held?
The sessions will be held in the woods behind Burview Hall,
Queens Road, Hersham, KT12 5AB. Please park at the front of the hall, but not in the disabled bays!
We meet at the gate on the right side of the building.
Please telephone if you are late and we will let you in, as the gate is locked whilst we are in the woods.
The woodland area is completely fenced in, and safety checks are regularly carried out by the Forest School team.
For safety reasons all children must wear long sleeves tops, long trousers, and closed toe shoes. Please do not send your child in any best clothes, as they will probably get dirty (in fact, we encourage it!).
We advise you to dress your child in several thin layers, that can be removed if they get too hot. Cold children are usually unhappy children, so please remember gloves/hats when the weather is cold.
In wet/windy weather your child should wear waterproof shoes/boots and rain wear. The sessions will continue whatever the weather (the only exception being really extreme conditions), so please make sure that your child is suitably dressed.
It would help us if you let your child know that it is okay with you if their clothes get a bit dirty at Forest School. This will help them to not worry, and get the best experience possible.
A change of trousers/pants in a small rucksack is advisable, as it takes a little time to get used to going to the toilet outside!
